OUR STORY

Love and Marriage...

Paul and I met in April of 2006. I was invited to barbeque at Blair's house (the best man) with a friend of mine, who was currently dating Blair. I almost didn't go, but was urged to on the phone by Blair. Thankfully I did, because unbeknownst to me, I would meet my future husband there.

Paul ended up getting my phone number and we ended up meeting and talking all night. It was amazing, we couldn't get enough of each other. That led to many dates, nearly one and a half years worth.

The Engagement...

Paul finally popped the question on Christmas Eve 2007. He had it all planned so that his mom did not have her tree set-up yet and that nobody else would be there. He then coaxed me into going to his mom's house to set up her Christmas tree. Once the decorations were all placed, I had the honour of standing on a "pedestal" (a chair infact) and placing the Angel on top of the tree. Before I got down, he handed me "one more ornament". I looked down and saw him down on one knee.

He handed me a beautiful ring box. However, there were two problems: First, it was wooden and resembled an ornament. Second, he handed it to me un-opened.

For those who have known me for a long enough time, can probably guess what happened next. For those who haven't known me as long, may like to read on...

So, while Paul was telling me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, I was silently thinking "Yes, I know... but where is the string for this ornament?".

He finally figured out what I was thinking and opened the box for me. Needless to say, I said "YES!". We celebrated with a little champagne and I've been smiling ever since. It was a moment we will never forget.
